Direct deposit is one of the most popular features Netspend has to offer. Instead of waiting for a paper check or making a trip to reload your card, your paycheck, government benefits, or tax refund can be deposited directly to your Netspend card — often arriving 1–2 days before your scheduled pay date. Setting it up is straightforward and only needs to be done once.

## What You'll Need

Before you get started, make sure you have the following on hand:

## Setting Up for Government Benefits

The same process applies if you want to receive government payments directly to your Netspend card. Social Security, SSI, VA benefits, and other federal payments can all be routed to your card using your Netspend routing and account numbers. You can update your payment method through your respective benefit portal or by contacting the issuing agency directly. If you're expecting a tax refund, the IRS also accepts prepaid debit card direct deposit — simply enter your Netspend routing and account numbers in the direct deposit section of Form 1040 when filing your return.
